ABOUT MATT: Matt grew up in Newport during the epic pristine years of the 60's and 70's and still continues to surf 43 years later with the same enthusiasm as if He just started. Matt started to surf with His brother Walt in 1966 and never looked back after catching His first wave 43 years ago. He started the School by word of mouth 25 years ago and to His surprise it grew to be the go to "Private" real surf school for those who were seeking serious surf instruction from world class Instructors and superior comprehensive detailed technical lesson plans. Matt pioneered the first "private High End Exclusive" surf school of it's kind 25 years ago and broke through the barriers to teach with world class ability such as Matt and Staff that does not push folk's in the white water the whole week but geared for those to learn how to surf the correct way not taking any shortcuts. The advantage of being a world class professional surfer with the years of surfing experience and life long dedication to the sport has given Matt the edge with a college education to bring the beginner to the next level in a very short span of time. My education started at Newport Elementary, Ensign Middle School then He graduated Corona del Mar High School in 1977 and excelled in sports such as football (half back & rover which I was team captain and C.I.F. champs, track, wrestling, baseball but surfing was His main stay. Then I started College at St. Mary's College of California 2 years then transferred to Chaminade College of Honolulu, Hawaii for 2 years with undergraduate studies and majors in Business and Political Science and a Certificate in Education which has been beneficial in teaching and creating the outline for the Curriculum and lesson plans. Matt in Bali Matt was featured in SURFING MAGAZINE during a surf session on a huge HURRICANE swell at the "Newport Point" in 1980. **See photo page.  Matt loves to be at the beach surfing with His students and the school gives Him the incentive to continue to pass on His secrets, experience and knowledge for the next generations to come.  Matt enjoyed competing in contests in the late 70's but got allot more out of free surfing with a soulful flowing natural "spiritual experience" with a couple of His friends in the line up at a uncrowded secret surf spot with His many travels extensively to many exotic secret surf spots in the past 30 + years. Although He does encourage competition which Matt excelled in the 70's but also teaches surfing as an individual sport and art form to make it a fun soulful surfing experience.   AFTER MANY YEARS MATT FINALLY IN 2007 I FOUND MY PERFECT "SURFING" WIFE THAT COULD GO WITH THE FLOW AND TRAVELS TO EXOTIC SURF DESTINATIONS AND ENJOY THE SURFERS LIFESTYLE!
