I have been in articles such as, "Successful and Single Magazine", "Los Angeles Times", "Daily Pilot", "Coast Magazine", "Five-Star Magazine" and "Orange Coast Magazine".   ABOUT MATT: 43 years of surfing has given me the satisfaction of travel and true excitement of riding the best waves in the world! I previously competed in Hawaii and California, (1977-1980). I grew up in Newport and during the epic years in the 70's. I still live in Newport as the go to surf school and continue to surf secret spots and  have not lost the adventure and excitement of travel and surf trips. I graduated Corona del Mar High School (76) and continued My education at St. Mary's College of California, Chaminade College of Honolulu. I studied undergraduate and My majors were Business, Political Science and a Certificate in Education.  I have surfed and lived in Europe, Hawaii, Mexico and Bali. I have plans to explore the Maldives and Mentawai's. For 25 years I have developed lesson plans from beginner - intermediate - advanced that will insure that detailed technical information be acquired so that the learning curve will be reduced by years. I am the pioneer and the first privately owned surf school with private lessons that is for the student who would like to take their surfing to the next level with a safe environment and attention You deserve.  Many camps and independent instructors who are geared toward an entry level of surfing with inferior equipment - instruction have popped up in the past couple of years which after a week or two of their camp or lessons then sign up for My school have to be corrected and have been given the wrong advice on boards and gear thus we have to trade in the board purchased for the correct dimensions. This has been My experience of those who have had friends try to teach or schools.  Matt in Bali I provide Premium Surf Tech Surf boards, not foamy boards provided by surf camps or independent instructors. I also prefer to teach private to semi private lessons because it is safer and more effective.    I started by putting my name in shops twenty five years ago and the school began to flourish.  Students flock to My school because they want real surf instruction. This is why I enjoy and brings Me happiness to see My prodigies surf in a very short time with My expertise. I was featured in SURFING MAGAZINE during a surf session on a huge HURRICANE swell at the "Newport Point" in 1980. **See photo page** I love the beach! It gives me the incentive to teach and pass my experience on to you. I teach You my secrets so your surfing can be enjoyable and fun without struggling as You progress. I enjoyed competing but I rather surf free with a soulful flowing natural "spiritual experience". Although I encourage competition, I teach surfing as an individual sport and art form.
