THE CURRICULUM
The four lesson Curriculum is My signature detailed program and for the serious and committed who is ready to reduce their learning by ten years by attaining all the necessary tips, secrets, basics and fundamentals which I have designed so You will not flounder as You progress. In my 25 years of teaching experience, I designed the curriculum, a series of four lessons, to teach you all the basics and fundamental surf skills you will need to progress quickly and confidently without struggling and floundering for years on the incorrect equipment, wrong area to surf knowing when to surf with the right conditions, surfing with etiquette and all the basics and fundamentals as You progress out in the line up. l will teach you how to surf; but also, how to be a surfer that will know how to surf taking years off the learning curve as You progress! These four lessons will save you money by buying the right equipment - board after assessment the first time eliminating the incorrect guidance by some Kid out of a shop, Creg's List, Camp, other surf school or friend who doesn't have a clue about gear or board assessing. If You have had or been surfing a while or had previous instruction I will have to correct and reteach any bad habits You have acquired during My Curriculum because of wrong advice and or teaching methods. There are no short cuts or cheesing the process, this is why it takes a minimum of four lessons just to get enough technical advice on the correct board size and equipment after the board assessment which takes at least two lessons to complete. The board assessment and all equipment - gear are covered in detail so You will be prepared with the right gear and board dimensions after the assessment of what outline, width. thickness, rocker curve, rails and length would be custom for the first board You would need to buy. There are no short cuts in the equipment phase - process to learn the basics and fundamentals so You will have a good enough foundation to surf on Your own with the right equipment from reputable shapers - manufacturers during or after the Curriculum. You may buy equipment during the Curriculum or You may use My Boards and Suits for a small usage fee until purchased. It is best to get geared up during the Curriculum so I can teach You on Your own board after the board assessment. Many who go through the surf school attest that they should have received a board assessment before they purchased the wrong board dimensions from unqualified sources such as friends, some other surf school or a guy out of a shop thus they have to sell the board and then purchase the correct board size! I will make sure You are set up with the correct board dimensions and all the right gear such as; wax, leash, wax comb, proper fin placement, wet suits, rash guards, booties, guide books, first aid kit to get set up properly rather than having the wrong suits, wax, leash size, fins and being unprepared with all the wrong gear. Any who have had prior instruction purchased all the wrong equipment because they tried to figure it out on their own. I have had to correct anyone who has had lessons before because You have been taught by unprofessional surfers that don't have a clue about equipment, safety, wave tracking and the basics of ocean knowledge which I teach timing, pivot turning, when to stand up, how to go down the face of the wave without pearling and go right and left. Wave Tracking is just as important to knowing where to surf and when! I cover in detail to become aware of ocean tides, swells, waves and forecasting before You go surfing hitting the right conditions. Knowing where to surf is essential so You will be at the right surf spot not at a break that You shouldn't be at. So a complete overview of wave tracking - meteorology will be covered in detail. Finally safety is the most important tips I give to insure the beginner will have the skills to protect themselves from the elements and other surfers and to avoid any hazards while learning to surf. From lesson 1 to the final 4th. I will reduce your learning curve by five to ten years by completion of My process in a minimum of four lessons.
