  • MISSION STATEMENT:

Newport Surf School is a real surf school and for those who are ready to learn all the basics and fundamentals as described in the outline. I have spent many years knowing what works for every individual and designed lesson plans to advance the novice in a very condensed time frame so they can surf on their own without floundering for years! I enjoy and do My best teaching when I know that My students are really pumped about surfing and are eager to learn then start surfing with the correct equipment I have guided them to buy. I put all of My 43 years experience to make Your experience a once in a life time chance with real pro's to get to the next level with superior instruction. Don't fight and struggle and go to some friend, city program with appointed inferior staff or a dude out of a shop or on the beach. Sign up for My school and be taught correctly the first time!

    LESSONS AND THE "CURRICULUM":

I prefer to teach advanced informative technical individual lessons as described in the Curriculum outline and structure for those who are committed and ready to learn how to surf because it is My specialty.

As an option You may try out surfing with an intro start up "Trial Lesson". I offer the "Trial Lesson" to accommodate first timers, tourists or those who are thinking about getting into surfing. In the trial lesson just learn the basics to get started.

For those who are ready, I do recommend at least a couple of lessons to get a board assessment and then follow up with a couple to complete the process. There is so much detail in My lessons that it does take a minimum of four lessons to teach the basics and fundamentals to ensure that a good enough foundation is acquired to surf on Your own. I give the opportunity to take the lessons one at a time.

    CURRICULUM:

In the specialized signature Four Lesson Curriculum I have designed, learn all the basics and fundamentals from beginner, intermediate to advanced levels. From lesson one to the final fourth You will progress and learn all the necessary  basics, fundamentals, aspects, secrets, and tips as described in the outline. I prefer to teach the Curriculum then the teaching level is increased because I know the student is serious to learn then purchase their own equipment. It is very important to get a board assessment which takes a minimum of two lessons to acquire. It is recommended the four lesson Curriculum for the novice who is ready to get into the sport of surfing. This is why it is very important to take four lessons so that technical advice on gear, secrets, wave tracking and tips so that I have enough time to work with You. Many who go through the surf school attest that they should have received a board assessment before they purchased wrong board dimensions from unqualified sources thus they have to sell the board and then purchase the correct board size! Safety, Equipment and Wave Tracking is covered in detail which takes a minimum of four lessons to attain. Ocean Training, Wave Knowledge too is vital to insure proper positioning in the line up and timing to catch waves.

This specialized detailed program is very informative and technical information is given to insure that You purchase proper equipment, wave knowledge and safety. After the lessons, You will be properly geared up with the right equipment too! During the Curriculum since the commitment level is high, I will guide You in buying all gear so I can teach You on Your own board. There is no pressure though to buy Your equipment because I provide suits and boards. In just four lessons I will reduce your learning curve by five to ten years.

Since the school is a private exclusive setting, I make Your experience with minimal distractions as possible. This is why it is important to keep the teaching area only for those who are enrolled in the classes. The essence of the atmosphere I am creating to have fun while in class but to keep the focus because those who are learning want to get all the attention they deserve. If minors are enrolled then one parent or guardian can observe from a distance but are asked not to interact while class is in session. After registration I go to great lengths in scheduling lessons with My Instructors to make the date and time for Your lessons. We can only teach in an exclusive area and in the morning when the surf is clean and uncrowded. This is why out of respect that no changes can be made unless weather is so bad that I need to reschedule. If You want pictures ask Instructors to take them for You. Picture taking or video is not allowed during lessons because I don not want My teaching of lessons compromised or for exhibition. My hope is that We all have fun while taking lessons and respect each other and the "locals" who are enjoying their surfing not to get in their way nor make a scene on the beach too!
